Chamelio has two separate role systems that are easy to conflate: account-wide platform roles, and flow-specific access roles. This page covers the flow-specific ones.
Account-wide roles (Admin, Editor, Member, Viewer) control access across all of Chamelio and are managed separately — see User Management.

Flow access roles

These are the roles you actually assign to a user or group in a flow’s Permission settings:

Owner and Assignee — not roles you assign here

“Owner” and “Assignee” show up elsewhere in Chamelio (for example, as recipient options when configuring notifications), but they aren’t entries in the Permission tab’s role dropdown above — they’re determined differently:
  • Owner is whoever is set in the flow’s Ownership field (under Flow Settings → General), or changed mid-task with a Customization step.
  • Assignee is whoever currently holds the task at a given step — set on that step itself (for example, the Approver on an Approval step), not on this settings page.
Use a Customization step to change a task’s ownership mid-task — for example, conditioning the owner on agreement type or department.
